With nervous excitement the Stratford Tigers, Liam Vose, Kyle Campbell, Freya Barnett, Lewis Mellor, Archie Casamassa, James Edwards, Connor Dunleavy, Ben Archer and Gianluca Murray played host to some very tough opposition at the Stratford Tournament on Sunday. The first match the Tigers took the fight to Droitwich. In the first half the Tigers took a bit of time to wake up and they conceded 3 tries. Then from out of the darkness came the speed and agility of Casamassa who passed to Mellor two steps from the line to get the first try. The defensive line worked hard in the second half with fantastic team tagging from Vose, Dunleavy and Barnett. With the gears now oiled the Tigers secured 4 more tries, hat tricks from Casamassa and well earned tries from Mellor and Vose, assisted by fast passing and quick footwork from Barnett, Murray and Edwards.
The next game was against Bromsgrove the tries where getting harder to get with both teams defending well. Archer and Campbell where tagging well and tries from Murray and Vose kept the Tigers heads above water.
The third game was against close rivals Old Leams. The Tigers where on top form with amazing defensive tagging from Archer, Barnett, Vose and Dunleavy which in turn made the ball turn over 4 times!! With more tries from Barnett, Mellor, Murray and Dunleavy the Tigers secured a well deserved win.
The Final game was against Birmingham and Solihull. The Tigers legs where getting tired but Campbell and Barnett made tries with assistance from Vose, Archer and Edwards. Then with a speedy run from Mellor the Tigers went ahead. But this was disallowed as Mellor had two tags on one side. Sadly the Tigers didn’t secure enough points to go through to the semifinals.
