After Friday night’s victory against Shipston at home, there were still a few tired bodies on Sunday morning. Despite this there was a committed squad of 15 boys who made a sterling effort in all 5 matches at the Banbury Tournament on Sunday

The 1st game was against an experienced side, Buckingham, but by sheer determination and help from the backs, Sreenivasaprasad secured the first try. Unfortunately Buckingham came back to equalise shortly afterwards, but as Stratford’s tackling skills strengthened, Massey took a stunning second try. Stratford dropped their guard again, but at 2-2, they were not to be beaten, and Crabtree, with his fancy footwork, weaved his way through the opposition to get his first try of the day. Stratford won the match 3-2.

Stratford had a shaky start in their 2nd match against Banbury B, but Crabtree in true fashion of ducking and diving took the first try.  After several well fought scrums the forwards broke out and with some great passes from Tuszynski, and George Bell.  Sreenivasaprasad was able to nail the second try to capture Stratford’s second win of the day, 2-0.

The 3rd match against Chinnor A started with a fantastic run by the backs, but despite going into touch, the forwards came back with force and Knight dived in with the first try. The game continued to be nail biting with some awesome tackling, when Roberts, powered through the opposition to score, Stratford winning the match 2-1.

The 4th match was the toughest, and although Stratford fought valiantly, they were beaten 1-0 against Bicester the other joint leaders who then went on to the finals.

As runners up, Stratford went on to play in the Plate. After a fantastic team effort, some tense tackling and two more tries from Crabtree they won 2-1.Going home victorious after a tremendous day’s play.
