U13s Take The Silverware at Kenilworth Junior 10s Tournament

Date: 24-04-2010
Venue: away
Opponents: Kenilworth
Result: Won all 4 matches

Stratford RFC Under 13s ended their 2009/2010 season on a high note, emphatically winning the Kenilworth Junior 10s Tournament. From the start Stratford were in determined mood and playing on a full sized pitch enabled them to make full use of their wingers, who between them racked up 13 tries. (James Hodkinson scored 8 and Henri Collins 5).  Up against Old Coventrians first and Stratford quickly set the scene. The mobile forwards of Barney Fidler, Ben Marsh, Harry Clark, Oliver Hodges, Rory McMeekan, Sam Bowler and Alex Cox dominated the rucks and mauls turning the ball over a number of times. Winning the ball then quickly feeding it out through the backs Luke Beardsmore, Luke Hammond and Elliott Routh, to wingers Hodkinson, Collins and Joe Noble gave Stratford a 15-5 win. Player of the Match was awarded to Henri Collins.

It was a similar story against Old Leamingtonians with Stratford winning 20-5. A hat-trick being achieved by Hodkinson. Player of the Match was awarded to Rory McMeekan.

Old Covs, who had brought a large squad, had sportingly split into two teams to fill the gap created by Rugby Lions failing to show up. Stratford dominated again with fast flowing rugby and won 25-10. Hammond (2) and Cox also adding to the try tally. Player of the Match was awarded to Harry Clark.

In the final match Kenilworth initially looked to have the upper hand by scoring twice at the beginning. Routh brought Stratford back into the match by powering through to score. From this point Stratford recovered their poise and ran in four more tries to win the match 25-10 and secure the Tournament having won all their matches. Player of the Match was awarded to Routh while Player of the Tournament was awarded to Hodkinson.
