Stratford RFC Under 13s had an action packed day at their home Junior 10s Tournament. Playing four fast paced matches, each against strong opposition in the form of Moseley, Bromsgrove, Worcester and Veseyans. The first match against Moseley ended in a 15-15 draw. Oliver Jackson ran the ball down the wing to open the scoring; Rory McMeekan hunted the ball down following a re-start to pass out for Joe Noble to score and Joe Miles scored from the back of a ruck. Man of the Match went to Harry Clark .
Stratford ’s defence held firm under intense pressure for most of the Bromsgrove match. On the counter attack Luke Beardsmore weaved through to score. Barney Fidler used his usual tenacity to rip the ball in mauls. Josh Wood, who had been tackling like a demon, had to go off injured. However late in the match Bromsgrove broke through to win 20-5. Man of the Match went to Oliver Jackson.
A very well drilled Worcester side prevailed against Stratford who despite many forceful attacks were unable to break through and score. Worcester ’s counter attacks were held by furious tackling, Alex Cox, Ben Marsh and Will Meeres stopping several attacking runs, but they eventually won 15-0. Tiarnán Catton was awarded Man of the Match.
Against Verseyans Stratford upped their game and ran in eight tries, three by power house Joe Miles , two by Oliver Parker , two by Matthew Newman and one by Luke Hammond, to end the Tournament with a convincing 40-5 win in the final match. Joe Miles was awarded Man of the Match.
